The Vident Authority Network

Where a subject is settled before the case is

Each Center below is a standing reference on one area of litigation: the science, the governing law, the questions that decide matters, and the standard an expert in that field should be held to. Written for the attorney who has to get up to speed fast, and cited well enough to hand to opposing counsel.

Every Center is researched, published, and funded by Vident Partners, and anchored by named experts who practice in the field. Nothing here is advertising, and no claim appears without a primary source behind it.

What a Center is

A subject, defined completely — with the citations attached

A Center is not a landing page and not a blog. It is a standing reference on one subject: the science, the governing law, the questions that decide matters, and the standard an expert in that subject should be held to. Each is anchored by two or three named experts from the Vident Partners network who actually practice in the field.

Centers take no side. Prosecutors, defense counsel, and civil litigators are working from the same body of evidence, and a Center is where that evidence is written down plainly and completely — including the parts that are inconvenient for whoever is reading.

No claim without a citation

Every factual assertion carries a numbered reference to a primary source — a statute, an opinion, a federal dataset, or a peer-reviewed paper. Every URL is checked before publication.

Named, practicing anchors

Each Center is anchored by real experts with published records in the specific question at issue, linked to their full Vident Partners profiles rather than summarized behind a brand.

Ownership on every page

Vident Partners is named in the header of every Center page and again on each Center’s about page, alongside who funds the work and what the commercial interest is.

One canonical page per thing

Centers link out to the canonical expert profiles, specialty pages, and articles on videntpartners.com. Nothing is duplicated to inflate a Center.

The Centers

Three Centers are live

Additional Centers are in preparation. Each one launches only when its standards section is complete and every citation in it has been checked.

The Synthetic Opioid Project

Pharmacology, toxicology, and causation — sourced to primary literature.

The Synthetic Opioid Project is an independent reference on the pharmacology, toxicology, and forensic interpretation of fentanyl and the synthetic opioids following it — maintained by practicing experts and sourced to primary literature on every page. It takes no side in any case: prosecutors, defense counsel, and civil litigators are working from the same science, and this is where that science is written down plainly and completely.

The Standard of Care in Schools

Special education, bullying, restraint, and student suicide — sourced to primary authority.

The Standard of Care in Schools is an independent reference on what American law and recognized national practice standards actually require of a school district before, during, and after harm to a child — bullying and harassment, special education, restraint and seclusion, and student suicide. It is written to be equally usable by a family's counsel and a district's counsel, because a standard only one side trusts is not a standard.

The Long-Term Care Standards Project

Pressure injuries, falls, staffing, and the record — sourced to primary authority.

The Long-Term Care Standards Project is an independent reference on what federal law, state licensure, and recognized clinical practice actually require of a nursing home, assisted living residence, or memory care community before, during, and after harm to a resident — pressure injuries, falls and elopement, malnutrition and dehydration, sepsis, medication error, abuse and neglect, and the staffing and ownership questions underneath all of them. It is written to be equally usable by the family's counsel and the facility's counsel, because a standard only one side trusts is not a standard.

How to use a Center

Three things it is built to do

Get up to speed on an unfamiliar subject

The standards section is the short course: what the governing authorities actually require, where the real disputes sit, and which questions decide the matter. Written to be read once, quickly, before a first call with an expert.

Check an opinion you have already been given

Every claim carries a numbered reference to a statute, a regulation, an opinion, or a federal dataset. If a retained expert’s position does not square with the authority cited here, that is worth knowing before a deposition rather than after.

Find the right expert for the actual question

Each Center names the experts who anchor it and links to the specialties that bear on it. If the fit is not obvious, a consultation costs nothing and is answered by a person who knows the bench.

Ownership, stated plainly

Who publishes this, and who pays for it

Vident Partners owns, publishes, and funds every Center.

That is stated in the header of every Center page and again, at length, on each Center’s own ownership page — because an authority that has to be cross-examined about who is behind it is not much of an authority.

Vident Partners is compensated when an attorney engages an expert through its referral service. That is the commercial interest behind this work, and it is disclosed here rather than left to be discovered. There is no advertising on these pages, no sponsorship, and no third-party funding.

The experts who anchor these Centers cite this work in their expert reports. So it is written to be read by the other side.
