Dr. Nicholas A. Alfonso is a fellowship-trained orthopedic trauma surgeon and Assistant Professor of Orthopedics at the University of Colorado Anschutz School of Medicine. He earned his M.D. from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Colorado, where he served as Chief Resident. He then completed an advanced fellowship in orthopedic trauma at Case Western Reserve University–Cleveland Clinic Foundation–MetroHealth Medical Center, one of the nation’s premier trauma training programs. Dr. Alfonso holds additional certifications in pelvic and acetabular fracture management through AOTrauma and the Orthopedic Trauma Association, and has published 26+ peer-reviewed articles on fracture-related infections, antibiotic prophylaxis in trauma surgery, and fracture stabilization techniques. He practices at UCHealth Orthopedics Clinic on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado, managing complex trauma cases including pelvic fractures, limb salvage, and fracture infections.
